OR Nurse Educator


Clinical Educator I crosses the entities of the Hospital by providing staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher. Each supports the development of the bedside care giver, and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced based clinical and nursing practice. This occurs by the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development. In addition, as a role model of professional behavior, the Clinical Educator I assists the department to create a professional nursing climate within the Hospital. The Clinical Educator I meets the needs of the diverse units within the Hospital and the global needs of the Hospital's patient care units. Works with educators and unit representatives to identify and meet global needs of patient care units, multi-disciplinary teams, committees, and task forces.


  • Education: Master’s Degree in clinical field preferred; qualified Bachelor degree candidates with teaching experience actively pursuing a Master’s degree will be considered. 

  • Certification: Specialty or education certification preferred.

  • Experience: Three to 5 years recent clinical experience in an acute care setting required. Minimum of one year formal teaching, or comparable experience required. 

  • Licensure: Current Connecticut licensure in clinical field

  • Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel

  • Effective oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills

  • Self-direction, creativity, initiative to develop educational programs

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certification and Telemetry Skills
