Angelo J. Accomando, MD serves as Nutmeg’s Physician Consultant offering candidate evaluation services to Physician Practices, Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) and Hospitals relative to physician and other high level clinical and administrative candidates.
Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Dr. Accomando graduated from the University of Bologna Medical School, in Bologna, Italy, and returned home to the United States to complete his internal medicine residency at The Miriam Hospital, a Brown University affiliated program. He began private practice in 1998 as an internist at Family Practice Internal Medicine of New Haven County (FPIM), a mid-sized internal medicine practice located in East Haven, CT.
His exceptional clinical skills and warm personal style caught the attention of not only his loyal patients but also FPIM’s physician leadership providing the foundation for his rise. After only one year with practice, Dr. Accomando was offered partnership and presently serves as the FPIM’s lead principal. Among his various clinical and administrative responsibilities, Dr. Accomando has been primarily responsible for all physician and clinical staff assessment, recruitment and hiring since 1999.
Dr. Accomando is also an adjunct professor at the Yale University School of Medicine, earning an Assistant Clinical Professor in Medicine appointment in 2002. In 2005, Dr. Accomando's clinical guidance and mentoring earned him "The Annual Departmental Award for Excellence" for his work with 3rd year, ambulatory internal medicine students.
Dr. Accomando continues to actively practice medicine and remains the FPIM’s Medical Director. He lives in Connecticut with his wife and family.
